The Argentinean rider Alejandro Patronelli (Yamaha) was declared winner of the Dakar 2011 in the quad category, while Russia's Vladimir Chagin (Kamaz) did in trucks.

Patronelli, older brother of last year's winner, finished the last stage in third place and took the large lead he had in general to improve the second place finish last year.

The second step of the podium went to another Argentine, Sebastian Halpern (Yamaha), while third place was not defined until the last breath, and Poland's Lukasz Laskawiec (Yamaha) topped by only 52 seconds to the Frenchman Christophe Declerck.

In trucks, the Russian Firdaus Kabirov (Kamaz) won the last stage but the advantage was not enough to overtake his compatriot Vladimir Chagin (Kamaz), which won its seventh Dakar crown.

Kabirov was second at half time and also Russian Chagin Ilgizar Mardeev Kamaz completed the podium. The English Pep Vila (Iveco) was fifth.
